High Tropics’ brand of anthemic lo-fi pop is the brainchild of South African born singer/songwriter Josh Stewart.
What started as a home recording project quickly took life as something bigger when he started sending songs back and forth with long time friend and now the group’s lead guitarist - Cody Cook.
The pair later recruited drummer Dane Bayliss and bassist Christopher Pickett before eventually finding the missing piece of the puzzle in multi-instrumentalist James Breust.
Their debut single- 15 Years – due to be released in April, exhibits Stewart’s carefully sculpted DIY efforts, which he demonstrates with incredible precision. Boasting chorus and bridge sections that scream of Glastonbury and that stir your favourite memories of garage rock giants such as The Strokes or The Killers, one could see the band’s future equally adept in occupying charts and stadiums alike.
