ROYAL MAX

Origins & Evolution (2001 - 2016)
Royal Max was formed in 2001 by Mika Niemi and Mikko Huopainen, quickly evolving into a hard rock band. Over the years, the band underwent multiple lineup changes and musical transformations, shifting from hard rock to progressive metal and experimenting with funk and blues elements. Between 2003 and 2011, Royal Max released several demos and EPs, gaining recognition in the Finnish rock scene. After an active period of recording and performing, the band eventually went on hiatus in 2011.

The Return of Royal Max (2017 - Present)
In 2017, Mika Niemi and Mikko Huopainen reignited Royal Max, aiming to recapture the spirit of the original lineup. The songwriting naturally returned to the band’s hard rock roots, infused with their signature energy and melodic intensity.

The band’s new lineup features Mikko Koponen (Oblivision, Deadlight) on vocals, Pauli Hirvonen (Carcosa) on bass, and original drummer Tommi Virolainen, completing the rebirth of Royal Max. With fresh material and a renewed passion for music, the band is ready to bring their sound to a new audience.
