OSLO TAPES

Marco Campitelli, born and raised in Lanciano on Italy’s southern Adriatic coast, already active with the band The Marigold since the late 1990s founded OSLO TAPES in the early 2010s after a trip to the Norwegian Capital left him deeply impressed. Under the influence of this infatuation, he composed and produced OSLO TAPES’ first record “OT (un cuore in pasto a pesci con teste di cane)” within a week in 2013.

Supervised and supported by friend Amaury Cambuzat (faUSt / Ulan Bator), Campitelli’s first attempt to capture the mystical vibe of Norway was released on DeAmbula Records (Ulan Bator, The Marigold). In 2015 he was joined by Mauro Spada and Federico Sergente (Zippo) and together they recorded OSLO TAPES’ sophomore album “Tango Kalashnikov”, also released on DeAmbula Records.

“ØR” (2021) released under the prestigious Pelagic Records imprint, the album stands as a refined statement of the band’s evolving sonic identity, aligning them with some of the most innovative names in the progressive and post-metal scene. This is a much more collaborative effort for OSLO TAPES than the first two records. Next to Campitelli, the album was co-produced by Amaury Cambuzat and James Aparicio (house engineer for Mute Records and mixing and mastering engineer for Depeche Mode, Mogwai, Nick Cave) and Lucio Piccirilli. During production, Campitelli became friends with Emil Nikolaisen of Serena Maneesh w h o guided him “through the Norwegian imagination”. As a result, the record’s title is also courtesy of Nikolaisen. The band under the plays at Roadburn Festival (NL) in 2021/22 one of the great festivals for the alternative music in Europe.

2023 is the year of “Staring At The Sun Before Goin’ Blind” (Sound Effect Records, Grazil Records, Echodelik Records) an album steeped in psychedelia and avant-garde music, masterfully fused into a sonic experience tinged with darkness. The work started in studio by Campitelli and his long date producer Amaury Cambuzat, the duo composes, plays and arranged every part of the album. To complete the line up Mauro Spada (bass) and Davide Di Vigilio (drums), Dahm Majuri Cipolla of MONO (drums), and the Berlin based cellist Sicker Man, Federico Sergente (percussions), Kaouenn (guitar, synth).

2025 is the year of “Låst Comet”(Worst Bassist Recs lp, Grazil Records cd-tape, Golden Robot Records dgt). Set for release in the coming months, the album opens a bold new sonic chapter for the band, reaffirming their visionary approach and ever-evolving style. An hypnotic voyage through obsessive grooves, warped distortions, and esoteric synth textures, conjures a ritualistic and evocative atmosphere.

A new dream takes shape as Marco Campitelli’s vocals intertwine with the voice of Emilie Lium Vordal, a Norwegian singer and multi-instrumentalist, bringing new shades to the project. This brand new album also marks the beginning of an exciting new creative era for Oslo Tapes.

“LÅST COMET” is the result of a year-long journey of experimentation and international collaboration.

Its ten tracks were written and arranged by Marco Campitelli and Stefano Micolucci, performed by an expanded Oslo Tapes lineup, and produced and mixed by Amaury Cambuzat.

Recording sessions took place between Italy and Norway with Campitelli, Lucio Piccirilli, and Emil Nikolaisen (Serena Maneesh, Brian Jonestown Massacre) — who also co-wrote some material — and feature a special guest appearance by Håkon Gebhardt, legendary drummer of Motorpsycho alongside a constantly evolving Italo-Norwegian collective featuring: Emilie Lium Vordal, Mauro Spada, Davide Di Virgilio, Lorenzo Di Lorenzo, Matteo Giancristofaro, Andrea Angelucci, Kaouenn.
