Hailing from Maryborough, Queensland is three-piece alt-hard-rock outfit Ruination. Featuring Luke Karolak (Guitar/Vocals), Brady Weber (Bass) and Josh Brooks (Drums), the trio entwine soft soundscapes with a melodic, rock edge at its core. Brought about in 2021, with Luke bringing riffs, melodies and lyrics he had for decades to Josh to establish a rock-solid foundation. Once established Brady came into scope to bring about the low end needed to round out the sound and bring forth the rhythmic soundwaves.
Ruination draws influences from a diverse range of acts including Seether, The Pixies, COG, The Beatles, Black Sabbath to Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Tool, Silverchair, HUM, Deftones, Superheaven, Karnivool and more.
There is a distinct sound being crafted through the band’s song writing which shows restraint in soothing and soft intros almost ballad like, upward to Heavy and soaring Choruses. Performing shows locally and interstate, Ruination have shared the stage with the likes of Killing Heidi, HAMMERS, Pistonfist, Krave, Mezmik and many more. Also, recently they have opened the SOUNDS OF ROCK FESTIVAL in Hervey Bay in 2024 and performed at Hostile Fest on the Sunshine Coast in early 2025.
Their First EP Release Whisper in 2022 comprising of 6 tracks with track Fading Grey becoming a heavily spun song, showed off their softer sound and showcasing that not only heavy is the way.
Ruination will be releasing new music in 2025 with singles off their forthcoming album Everything Eventually, to be released through Golden Robot Records in October 2025 that this band has signed to. This album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Mick Bristow at King Street Studio at Woody Point, Brisbane, Queensland.
