Mortal Tendency is a progressive metal project formed from the mind of Keith “Wolf” Dobson. The project draws influence from melodic death metal, thrash metal, and progressive metal. While the project has a unique sound, listeners may hear influences from acts such as Testament, Omnium Gatherum, Strapping Young Lad, and other Devin Townsend projects. Wolf’s goal was to achieve a sound that is both heavy and characterized by a massive "wall of sound."
Born during the pandemic, Mortal Tendency explores humanity and its tendency toward self-destruction. The self-titled debut album began in San Diego, CA, while Wolf’s previous band, Cryptic, was on hiatus due to lockdowns. After relocating to Mississippi and later settling in Pensacola, FL, the album was completed and released.
The debut album, Mortal Tendency, was released on all streaming services on September 23, 2023. In addition to the debut, three more albums have already been written and recorded for future release. These forthcoming works are progressively heavier, blending elements of chaos with introspection.
On September 1, 2023, Wolf and Mortal Tendency signed with Extreme Management Group (EMG), represented by manager Paul Andrejack.
