Melungeon Kings is the stoner mountain doom solo project of Chad Hedrick Winkle, born and raised in Bulls Gap, northeast Tennessee. Drawing from the folklore and bloodline of the Melungeons - an enigmatic and often misunderstood group native to the Appalachian Mountains - Winkle weaves heritage and heaviness into every track.
What started on a 4-track cassette recorder in a home studio has evolved into a full-fledged sonic ritual. Melungeon Kings blends thick, sludgy riffs with eerie melodic hooks and a sharp lyrical bite - Southern, dark, and unapologetically raw. The result is a groove that settles deep in your bones and a wicked tongue that lingers in your mind for days.
